The sustained sub-zero temperatures experienced across the region brought an unexpected busy period for NLPS, before during and after Christmas.

Managing Director Mark Vasey explains “Initially we were just getting calls from customers with blocked condenser pipes on their boilers, which kept our gas engineers very busy. But, once the weather began to warm up, our team was absolutely inundated with calls to deal with the aftermath of burst water pipes.

Fixing the burst pipe is the easy part, it’s the water damage and associated works that are more complex. Luckily we invested heavily in our flood restoration team and equipment in 2010 and we were ready to meet the many challenges that our customers set us – supplying blowers and dehumidifiers to multiple customers where our competitors could not meet demand. Once properties were dried out (and dry certificates issued), our other trades quickly followed to make good damage which included collapsed ceilings, warped floors, decorations, etc.”

Despite being flat out we still have spare capacity so if you have been affected by a burst pipe/flood in the Yorkshire area and your insurance company is dragging its heels over getting the damage assessed/repaired then please contact us to see if we can help – most policies allow you to get permission from your insurer to have the work done yourself.

Following a fire at the new High Royds development in Menston in May 2010, NLPS were appointed to complete a full fire restoration service of the affected flats.

This was a huge project involving all trades, and one with a direct impact on the lives of all the residents of the flats (who had to be temporarily rehoused whilst works were completed).

As the final keys were handed back to residents, NLPS Managing Director Mark Vasey commented “This has been a challenging project which arose at short notice, but our team has pulled together and worked really hard to make sure that these families get back into their homes on time and with minimal hassle. I’m really pleased to be handing over the keys and leaving site, knowing that everyone is now back home thanks to our efforts.”
